Site Update Dec. 30 2013

Greetings,
The site was just updated with the following changes:
- On the GeocacherPage, added the find count and the points to the Owner Find Accolades list.
- Made a minor layout tweak to the user Profile page.
- Geocaching.com User Name changes are now handled in LonelyCache. After a user name change, when logging into LonelyCache with your old user name, the LonelyCache user name will be updated to match that of Geocaching.com. If a user created a new LonelyCache account with the new user name, then when logging in with the old name, the old LonelyCache account will be deleted and a message requesting the new user name be used instead.
- When performing the daily stats update, a hint was added to how the backcountry leader boards should be created. Hopefully this will help resolve the issue where sometimes the daily updates don't complete or take an overly long time to complete. Time will tell whether this is effective or not.
Happy new year,
Russell

Looks good to me!

As this feature was added most likely to fix a problem I had, I tested it out, and from my end it worked flawlessly. I expect this will help quick the user database tidy. On a related note and since I'm curious, how long do the GC.com API Authorizations last? I wonder whether it's worthwhile to build code that automatically deletes a user account when its linked authorization expires, or after so-many months of inactivity, etc.

Hopefully it helps! Thanks for the continual updates and happy new year to you too!

You were one of three LonelyCache users that I know of that have changed their user name. Another ended up with two accounts like you and I deleted the account of the third before he re-registered.
As far as I can tell, authorizations do not expire. It seems they last until the user cancels them.
I suppose we could add code to delete any accounts that have not been accessed after some time period has elapsed, such as a year. At this time I don't see this as an issue, but you never know, this might be something to do every spring.

I'm having doubts it has helped. The stats update completed the last two days, but it took a long time to do so, especially this morning's.
