Garmin communicator plugin not working with windows v. 8.1

Garmin communicator plugin not working in IE 11 and windows 8.1 release version
I am having trouble with the Garmin Plug in working with Windows 8.1.. Using IE 11...
have had to go to Google Chrome to get it working. I understand FIrefox also will work with the Garmin plug in.
anyone have a fix to get it communicating again with my Garmin devices using IE 11.. Windows 8.1..
chrome seems to slow down my entire system... Firefox has been known to have issues with maps...
any ideas welcome... thanks
