LonelyCache

I happen to check out the Home Page and see the loneliest "unknown" cache Lonely Cache Wide has 1066 points with no finds in 10 years and 7 months. This cache was placed in Utah on 1/1/2003. The cache is: Jacob's MOVING Cache #2, Provo region, Utah county, Utah United States, 1,066 Points, No finds in 10 years, 7 months, First available: January 1, 2003, Last Update: Never, Last Full Synch: Never.
After looking at the cache I see that it is a "moving" cache and there are 1249 finds on the cache. Just wondering if I'm missing something here or is this a bug with the site.

I think it's a deficiency with the site, not a bug as everything seems to be working as expected. Once the cache is updated, this anomaly should clear up. The deficiency is that LonelyCache really has no awareness of moving caches and certain weird things happen when one moves into and out of the LonelyCache territory. I've had to manually delete a few of them from the LonelyCache database (the one in question here too).

A nice solution would be to keep a list of moving caches, and then ensure that any caches on that list are excluded from LonelyCache. This was actually thought of when we were implementing the site. At that time it was decided that our time would be better spent by just dealing with any manually instead of the hours needed to implement an automated solution.

Just an FYI, there's a bookmark list of Caches Excluded from Souvenirs and Statistics that contains all the moving caches. It would be a good place to start to get a list of caches to exclude from LonelyCache.

I'm not sure what's going on, but the cache in question doesn't seem to be getting updated. It started and then seems to have gotten stuck. I set it so that it would need to restart being updated. We'll see what happens now.
