After starting the year out slow caching wise, I've finally gotten out and have been finding a bunch of caches. Yesterday Redfist and I had a great day heading to Tucson, AZ and finding 110
caches! That was a fun and crazy day.
My big adventure though, was going on a three day backpacking trip over Memorial Day weekend on the Highline Trail under the Mogollon Rim near Payson, AZ. I ended up hiking about 40 miles and finding 90 caches (Jcanyoneer's Prime Highline series). That was really fun and it was great to be on the trail. I was pretty beat the third day after a very long second day. The second day I had to hike much farther than anticipated in order to camp at a place with water. I started at the Hatchery Trailhead on Tonto Creek and spent the first night at Bonita Creek. The second day I hiked all the way to Webber Creek at the Geronimo TH and the third day, I finished up at the Pine TH.

I just did the highline from Washington Park to Geronimo, and passed several streams with water which surprised me. Were they not flowing while you hiked? They were all east of the section where the two caches that are no longer on the Highline were locatedCorfman Clan wrote:After starting the year out slow caching wise, I've finally gotten out and have been finding a bunch of caches. There was water on the east half of the section. I just wasn't really ready to stop when I got to the last water and it appeared there would be at least three more places to get water so I continued.Team Opjim wrote:I just did the highline from Washington Park to Geronimo, and passed several streams with water which surprised me. Finding water is the bane of Arizona hiking: you can rarely count on the springs located on the maps. I think that Hatchery to Pine in three days is an accomplishment worth celebrating, especially while finding caches every 0.25 miles. Those Highline trail caches are really alot of fun, but they definately have a negative impact on your average hiking speed.Corfman Clan wrote:There was water on the east half of the section.
