Big Find Days.

Today, I had a 100+ LCP point day, finding Friday 1:05 PM (51), A Canyon to See (37), Derrick's Half Dead Alligator (34) and Derrick Junction (23) (for some this may be ho hum, but for me it was a big deal, requiring 10 miles of hiking).

It occurred to me that it would be fun to be able to look at someones best find day as far as point accumulated in one day. I can even see someone making a challenge cache which requires you to have a certain number of points/day on a certain number of occasions. :twisted:This will then get our of hand with a multitude of ridiculous challenge caches based on LCP, creating a Frankenstein Monster.

Is this achievable, or is it a nightmare of computer coding?

This does seem fun to track, but the problem is that the point totals are constantly changing. For example, you say you earned 51 points for finding Friday, 1:05 PM but it really wasn't since ktTris found it a couple days before you. For that, look at it from ktTris' point of view. It was worth ~51 points when she found it, but a couple days later, it was only worth ~38 points after you found it. Another problem is that not all of a person's finds for a given day are necessarily going to show up on LonelyCache at the same time, but may take a week to do so.
At any rate, I think the Recent Point Activity table on a geocacher's page is a good place to see this sort of thing for the past 30 days and the past 180 days. Right now, it is only on a geocacher by geocacher basis. I plan on implementing a list to show the top geocachers' recent activity.

I understand the fluidity of the issue: this in particular would make one look for caches with fewer Achilles points (is that a current term or an old DGP term) which wouldn't drop by 50% with each find

I don't think I was clear. I do not think this is feasible since there is no practicle way to compute this. This is exacerbated by the fact that logs trickle in to LonelyCache due to both the way LonelyCache gets logs and also due to when Geocachers log their finds.

Cool, I was just thinking it would be cool to see who is hot now. I am loving the site. Thanks.
