Finds on Lonely Cache and finds on GC not the same

Post by skeeper »

I was looking at my profile and my finds number on Lonely Cache and my finds on GC are different. Lonely cache is about 1200 less than my actual number of finds. How would I go about updating my finds here?

This is actually the normal case. Most geocachers will have a different find count on LonelyCache than on the Geocaching website. The reasons why this happens are:
  • Archived caches are not tracked on LonelyCache, so any finds from caches that are now archived will not be counted on LonelyCache
  • Only finds within LonelyCache are counted. If you found a cache outside of the LonelyCache territory, it is not counted on LonelyCache.
  • Not all cache types are tracked on LonelyCache. For example events. So if you ever went to an event, that find (attended), will not be seen on LonelyCache.
  • Only one find per cache is counted. If you happened to log multiple finds on the same cache, LonelyCache will only count that as one find.
  • If you logged a find on a cache you own, it will not be counted. You will still receive points for the cache (if it has been found by another) as an owner, not a finder. This occurs a lot for adopted caches. Someone finds a cache and later adopts it.
Thanks for asking!

I don't have any double logs but everything else applies. Guess it all adds up. Thanks Russ.
