Site Update February 8, 2017

Post by Corfman Clan »

Hi,

I just updated LonelyCache. Finally an update that adds some features for you:
  • The Geocache page was reorganized slightly and AJAX technology is now used for smoother transitions when changing the log sort order or showing/hiding the cache point calculation details.
  • A "Sync Cache" button has been added to the Geocache Page. This is only shown when you are logged into LonelyCache. Clicking the button will sync the cache with Geocaching.com in real time. This may take awhile if the cache has several logs, especially if it has over 900 logs, since the API limits the number of logs that can be retrieved to about 900 per minute. A sync status message is shown directly above the button and once the cache has been synced, the button is disabled.
  • A new page, Sync Caches, has been added. This page offers a way to enter the GC codes of several caches that you would like updated or added to LonelyCache, or even a way to remove archived caches. Once all the GC codes are entered, click on the Submit button, and a list of the caches is shown with the current sync status. Once all the caches have been updated, you may reset the page by clicking on the Reset button. This is all done in real time and may take a bit, especially if the selected caches have a lot of logs.
  • The Geocacher page has been updated to include a link to the new Sync Caches page. This link is only available to logged in members on their own Geocacher page. The easiest way to get to the page is to click on your Geocaching handle on the upper right of a LonelyCache page.
Enjoy,
Russell

I should have mentioned that once a sync is started, you do not need to stay on the page while the update is in progress. The sync will continue whether you stay on the page or navigate somewhere else.

I just pushed out an update to fix a problem introduced with the 2/8 update. Namely, when a user's recent finds were being included, finds for new caches were not being managed correctly. My apologies for that.
