Misc glitchs

Post by geost4fun »

I am having a few problems with the site and I am not sure if is related to my previous log-on difficulties so I started a new topic. First: my name in the upper right of the home page is no longer an active link. Second: none of the listings of caches have my finds shaded. Third: My finds from yesterday have not shown up. Although I haven't been real active on the site recently I don't believe I have done anything differently. Now that the weather has cooled I'm sure I'll be out more and checking in more often. Thanks for you help.

This sounds like you are able to log into the site, but it is not able to access your Geocaching.com account through the Geocaching.com Live API. Check your Geocaching.com authorizations and verify that LonelyCache is still there. You may also try going to your LonelyCache Profile page and renewing the authorization.

If none of that helps, let me know and I'll investigate what may be happening though I won't have an opportunity to do so until next week some time.

That does seem to be one of my problems since LonelyCache is not authorized in my geocaching account but now I am having problems getting into my profile on LonelyCache. Every time I click the profile link I go back to the login page which begins an endless loop. I tried having LonelyCache sending me a new password but that hasn't helped. And wow!, that is quite a password. I am glad I can copy and paste it because I would hate to have to type it in since I don't even know how to find some of the symbols. Anyway, there is no rush on any of this so take your time. I really appreciate all your work on the site plus your help to a low tech guy like myself. If there is anything I might have done to cause this problem let me know and I will try and not repeat it. Thanks Russell.

I have still been unable to log in to my profile on LoneyCache. I am logged in at the home page but when I hit profile I am returned to the log in page. When I hit log in again I am sent back to the home page and the cycle continues. LonelyCache is definitely not authorized at geocaching.com but I have been unable to figure out how to add an authorization on the geocaching site without a request from LonelyCache which I also can't do because of the above stated problem. I have tried off and on for the last week hoping I might figure something out but this problem seems to be beyond my abilities to solve. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am able to reproduce this behavior and will work on a fix for it. In the mean time, I have deleted your account on LonelyCache. You should be able to register with LonelyCache again and that will hopefully resolve your issues.

That did the trick. Everything is back to normal. Thanks again for your help, and congrats on your recent Grand Canyon finds. I really enjoy the Canyon and enjoyed reading your logs.

I have deleted your account on LonelyCache. Please register again and that should clear things up for you.

I have had the same issues as stated above. Now that the Holidays are behind us, would you please delete my account so I can reregister.

FYI. I started having issues with LonelyCache when I changed the password on my geocaching.com account.

Thanks,

I believe I have a fix for this issue and hope to install it tonight. With the fix, I shouldn't need to delete accounts anymore. Wait for the release notes and then you should be able to reset your password, update your profile, and renew authorization with geocaching.com.

I have noticed every so often a cache that I find is not on the LCP site. There was one here in the Vegas area (I currently can't remember that cache) and then One on the State line between Cali and NV where others do show up, South of the Cal NEV ARI area

GC4BAQ5 (Not on the site) which is right next to GC4BAQC that does show up. They were even hidden at the same time by the same person. Like I say this doesn't happen very often and I have only noticed it twice.

In the case of GC4BAQ5, it may be because the cache is in Nevada, yet marked on Geocaching.com as in California. Looking at Google Maps, it appears to be in CA, but may not be (the cache page even states it is in NV). I'll have to do more analysis to find out for sure why it isn't showing up in LonelyCache.
