Geocaching.com Authorization Issues

Hi,

Monday, December 9 at abount 6:00 PM MST, geocaching.com user authorization started failing at LonelyCache. At this time, I have no idea what may have changed to cause the problem, only what is occurring. Basically, when a user logs in to LonelyCache, a Geocaching.com Live API call is made to retrieve the user's geocaching.com information. Unfortunately, the call is returning empty user data.

I have sent an email to Geocaching.com notifying them of this issue. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

I just now went to my Profile tab on LC and clicked through to Renew and it seems to have resolved itself ... for now. I wonder what the root cause was.

Yes, it appears to be working again. I'll be interested to see Groundspeak's response.

Today I received an email from Groundspeak that they had made some changes to the Live API and then backed them out because of some issues. This afternoon I received notice that they reapplied the changes. Again, LonelyCache is seeing issues. I've let them know and I also know what code changes I can make to avoid the problem. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of other changes so that would be a major inconvenience to do. I've informed Groundspeak of what works and doesn't work. I'm hoping they'll back the changes out again until they can update their code to manage the set of values passed through the API the same as before.

Good news, Groundspeak has updated the Live API to behave as it previously did.
