Site Update Jan. 15, 2013

Post by Corfman Clan »

A quick update this morning. Not much change, just some tweaks to the style sheet (you may want to do a browser refresh on any LonelyCache page) and added Google Analytics and AdSense.

Good to see you trying to get some revenue to support the site. Are you expecting to add some ads to the site?

Yes, that's the plan. Ads have already been added but nothing shows until the web site is approved by Google. They'll be below the Powered by LIVE image on the right, then I'll add one or two more but haven't decided where yet. I'll have to play with things once they show up as I don't want them to distract from the site's content.

Saw my first ad tonight. Clicked it for good measure, even though I'm not interested in an HTC Rhyme from Verizon. I'll have to do it a few times from work too, as the external IP address changes and the geographically targeted ads assume I'm in different states each day. Let the nickels roll in! ;)

Thank you, but please only follow ads you're interested in.

I want to add to this that the best thing to do to help the site is to promote it. Let people know about it and get them to visit it. For example, one of our members posted on the Utah Association of Geocachers facebook page that the 2012 LonelyCache rankings are available and gave a link to them. I thought that was a great idea and followed suit with the Arizona Geocaching facebook page since I frequent it. I know that a lot of new traffic and interest to the site was generated from that. There's still three other states in LonelyCache too. Anyone? Also, don't forget to add the LonelyCache link from your caches back to LonelyCache.

Thanks :)
