Re: wishes
After spending the last hour browsing different cachers hides, I had another idea for a wish list...Is there a way to query the database for a list of caches by "longest last to find"? I just noticed that my geocache The Play and The Show has not been found in almost 2 years...made me want to see what else in AZ has that similar stat.

Re: wishes
I like that idea. It really goes along with the LonelyCache theme. The query really wasn't difficult to put together, though it does run a bit longer than I'd like (~10 sec). Here's the top 100 for LonelyCache wide:jcanyoneer wrote:After spending the last hour browsing different cachers hides, I had another idea for a wish list...Is there a way to query the database for a list of caches by "longest last to find"? Re: wishes
I think it would be great, now that the site is working well and seems robust, to add some documentation for new users. Whenever I meet other cachers, I bring up LonelyCache, but the site is a bit confusing without any info as to how points are calculated, or what constitutes a backcountry cache, etc. Those of us who were familiar with the DGP don't need it, but a new user will be a bit lost.
P.S. It's great having the site working - just adds that extra fun dimension to an already fun activity! Thanks!

I agree. Work has been started on creating some sort of knowledge books. That work may have stalled. I'll have to follow up with how it's coming along.AllWright wrote:I think it would be great, now that the site is working well and seems robust, to add some documentation for new users. Re: wishes
Will these knowledge books include maps showing the various regions and counties?

Re: wishes
Probably not, but one never knows. Once we have maps for the various regions and counties, they will be placed in the various region and county pages. So far, we have not looked into creating the maps.TheBlizzles wrote:Will these knowledge books include maps showing the various regions and counties?

Re: wishes
The old DGP site showed the calculation for the cache. I think it helped explain to new users how the points are calculated.
Current ChallengePoints
points awarded to each cache finder
cCPs = aCPs / Number of finders
cCPs = 726 / 3
cCPs = 241.8
That one addition would answer a number of questions about the site.
Maps would be good, but looking back I wonder if regions have even been worth it. I never open those pages. I do not remember the boundaries. Just thinkin out loud here.

Another thing I thought of..
On the main page you have the tables
"View Statistics For"
I would put that on the base of every county and state page. Then people do not have to go back to the main page to navigate to another.

This has now been implemented. The View Statistics For table is now at the bottom of every region page (for LonelyCache Wide, States, Counties, and DGP regions) along with at the bottom of every Geocache page. See the release notes for more details.firennice wrote:Another thing I thought of..

Thanks firennice, for the suggestions!
