Link Maker

I don't know about everyone else but I did like the link maker on the DGP site for both a cache link and cacher link. I would like to see this option come back so I can add a geocaches Lonely cache information to the caches page.

Yea I liked the link that you could put on your cache page that automatically updated the points for that cache.

I actually have a puzzle that used that link to hide info needed to solve the puzzle! I currently have to leave the DGP link on the page, so if a LCP link is made, I'll switch it up!

From my viewpoint, this suggestion is very similar to the Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges! suggestion. The difficulty isn't displaying the html for the link, it's generating the image that is retrieved from that link. It appears that won't be too difficult to do:

I finally got around to investigating this a bit. I was worried about how to dynamically create the image on the fly. It appears that won't be much of a problem. So, once we have a logo and some leaderboards, etc, it should be a fairly simple task to create some of these for your use.

So at this time, I expect to have this available at launch or very soon thereafter.

Okay, I'm not feeling the best today so I thought a simple diversion would be helpful. Here's an example link for a cache's points. We could essentially go with this after swapping in the real LCP logo:

Then, on the cache page, something like the following link would be added:

That would cause the above graphic to be added to the cache page as a hyper link to the cache details page on the LonelyCache Project web site. Of course, we will have a simple way to get the link so you will be able to copy it and paste it into the cache listing.

Cool! I'm definitely going to make use of this. Might be nice (in the future, no rush) to have options in size and shape. And it appears to be easily adaptable to be used for cachers as well as caches.

Yeah, sorry, we haven't looked at this for quite a time. Hopefully we can get to it soon. We're working on the art work for various things, this included. Once that's done, we should be able to finish this.

A link maker for geocaches is now available from the Geocache page (Release Notes). No work has yet begun for a geocacher link maker.
