Re: and We're Live!
Outstanding! Love the graphics also. I've run into 1 small problem. Cannot sign in to the LCP pages, though I have no problem signing into the forum pages. Keep getting message that password is incorrect. Shouldn't the same username and password for the forum work on the Home Page? The link to "...

Re: Challenge Points and Group Caching
Seems to me this is only adding more variables and clouding the scoring system. Geodogs having caching accounts? That's lunacy! DGP was really quite simple and straightforward, with the possible exception of awarding points to unfound caches. 1 find = 1 credit and let the points fall wherever they m...

Ruminations
I've been gradually going through the old DGP forums looking for gems to add here. I came across a question from a cacher who wanted to know why he had 0 points for puzzles but had found 80 puzzle caches. The response from admin was "Only caches worth 10 or more CPs are used to calculate Puzzle...
Re: wishes
I was unable to find the link just now but had previously seen the writeup explaining the reasons for deleting points when a cache is archived. The main reasoning behind deleting the points was to encourage owner and finder cache maintenance. If the points remain after the cache is archived, there i...
Re: Regions
The responses I've seen here seem to indicate that the total area of the LCP is the Southwest but I haven't actually seen a description of the total area, though I may have missed that. At any rate, if regions are not going to be created, then I suggest going with whole states. Counties might be eas...
Re: FTF lists
A lot of geocachers are challenged by the chance to get and FTF. For one thing, the real FTF is often harder to get than subsequent ones. The FTFr has to deal with bad coordinates - anyone hiked 2 miles to find a cacher had transposed numbers on the coordinates and ended up with a DNF, only to have ...

Re: Owner Find Accolades
I also like having the cache placer get points. If nothing else, it encourages the hiding of better quality geocaches. However, no points should be awarded to these caches until they have been found. When DGP switched to giving points for unfound caches there was a sudden and continued increase in t...

Re: Achilles Caches
Achilles points were not scoring points, just how many points would be lost by a cache when the next finder logged it. For example, a cache earned 100 points every 12 months, or 8.3 per month. If after 1 year it had 2 finds, then each finder got 50 points. The Achilles points were 17 as adding anoth...
